What To Do If He Won't Commit - 7 Questions That Can Get To The Bottom Of His Commitment Phobia

It can be very confusing and frustrating not knowing what to do if he won't commit. When you're ready to take the next step in your life and the man you are deeply in love with refuses to propose, it puts you in a very difficult situation.

You could give him an ultimatum, but that hardly seems right. After all, how are you going to feel knowing you "forced" him to commit to you? It doesn't seem like a very good way to start off a marriage, does it?

To figure out what to do if he won't commit, first sit down and take a realistic view of your relationship. How long have you been together? Is it possible you're just getting a little impatient because you've never been so in love before?

There's a big difference between being with someone for 6 months and not being married versus being with someone for 6 years and still not being married. You may know in your heart he's the one, but remember men think much more rationally than women do. Make sure you're working on a realistic timetable before you jump to any conclusions.

Next, if you've been dating him for several years and feel like he's never going to commit, then it's important to get to the bottom of why he's so hesitant about it. It may be time for a heart to heart. Try discovering the answers to the following questions:

1.) Is he still young? Most men don't seriously consider marriage until after the age of 24.

2.) Is he hesitant because he's been married before and got hurt in a divorce?

3.) Is he hesitant because he's worried about finances? Many men find it difficult to commit if they don't feel they have the financial means to support you and a possible family.

4.) Is he afraid you'll change and become a nagging, complaining wife he's stuck with?

5.) Is he chasing other goals and dreams he might have to give up if he marries you?

6.) Is he worried he'll no longer have any privacy or won't get to hang with his buddies anymore?

7.) Are most of his close friends single or married? Men are much more likely to commit if their friends are also married.

These are the types of questions you need to ask so you can figure out how to make a guy want you and what to do if he won't commit. If you can identify what his fears are and help alleviate them, then he'll be much more likely to drop to one knee and propose.

Under a worst case scenario, he's the type of man who never plans on marrying. He may simply be a "stringer" who loves being in the company of a woman, but who has no plans to ever get tied down. If this is the case, then you must decide what you want and move on if you can't see eye to eye.
