Want to find out why some players seem to get better and why most players stagnate?
Well it isn't about what they do, but more about how they do it.
Let me explain…
Have you ever practised your putting indoors?
At home?
In the office?
On a mat in your garage?
You probably have, most people have once or twice, it's actually good fun, and, if done with purpose, can be great practice.
So if I asked you - How hard would it be for you to practice your putting at home?
You'd most likely think it's pretty easy.
And of course you're right…easy to do once
What if I asked you - How hard would it be for you to practice your putting at home, every day for the next two months?
Now that's a good deal harder right?
But it's still the same thing, it's easy, just putting on the carpet… but it's not the putting you'll find hard, no, it's the discipline of doing it every day for two months.
Now you're probably already ahead of me, but wouldn't putting at home for two months be worth it?
You bet it would!
Most mediocre players will find a something to work on, do it one or two times - that's easy.
Good players find something easy to do and do it time after time after time - now that's tough.
…And that is what makes them good players.
Here's the key:
Do the easy things often.
Getting in the practice bunker and hitting 20 balls during a practice session is easy, but compare it to getting in the bunker every practice session and hitting 20 balls out of the sand every single time…that is hard, very few people will do it, but if you do, then the rewards will inevitably be yours.
Here's how you can take advantage of this knowledge.
Set yourself three easy golf practicing activities, but set yourself a challenging goal to do each of them for two months.
Here are some examples to getting you going, you can use three of these or add your own, most importantly, and you must commit to doing each of them for two months.
Make 18 putts from 3 feet without missing any, if you miss one you start the count again.
Chip 6 balls to each flag on your clubs practice green.
Go through your full Pre Shot Routine with every ball you hit on the range
Every day, spend 15 minutes in peace and quiet, and visualise yourself playing a great round at your home course.
Make sure you hit more wedges than all the other clubs put together at each practice session you have.
"Call The Shot" - every time you hit your driver in practice, be sure to nominate exactly the target line you are aiming for.
There you have it, 6 ideas to get you started. Chose three and stick with each one for two months, you'll be amazed at the progress you'll make.
Remember, it is doing the easy things often that'll make the biggest difference in your game.
