The 25th Day of Kislev is the celebration of Hanukkah (or Chanukah). History tells us that the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem is the celebration of this holy day. When the Temple was liberated there was only enough pure oil to light the Menorah for one day, but the oil burned for eight days. Therefore, the lightning of Menorah on Chanukah is in remembrance of this wonder. So, when searching for just the right Hanukkah party supplies and invitations, be sure to consider games for your Hanukkah party event. Hanukkah with fun party games will encourage a fun and educational time for all.
Word Scramble For Hanukkah. Everyone loves a good word scramble game, no matter what event or occasion. Give children worksheets with various Hebrew words on them but mix around the letters. The children will need to unscramble the letters, cleverly forming the correct Hebrew words. For younger children who may not be familiar with Hebrew words or letters, on the side of the scrambled words put the correct words. Players can draw a line from the correct words to the scrambled words.
Find The Chocolate Gelt Candy. Chocolate Gelt candies are typically played during the dreidal game. In order for party guests to earn even more chocolate gelts, give each player a small blue sack and ask them to search the party location for the chocolate gelts. On go, the players must search high and love throughout the party area.
A Twist To Musical Chairs. It's just like the traditional Musical Chairs game, but it has a slight twist to it. Finding a seat when the music stops is only half the fun. The players who do find a seat must answer a question regarding the object they are sitting by. For example, if a player is sitting by a shofar he or she must explain the meaning and purpose the shofar is. Place the items on a table with chairs around the table.
Pin the Candle on the Menorah. This game is just like Pin the Tail on the Donkey, but with a candle and a picture of a menorah instead. You can use an actual photo of a menorah, or a drawing, or a cartoon picture, if you like. The object of the game is to place the candle cut outs on top of the candles in the Menorah picture. Blindfold each of the players and the player or players who can place the candle over the picture in the correct location win.
This celebration is for the Jewish faith, but guests from all religious backgrounds can mingle and have fun at this event, as well. No better way to teach party guests of different backgrounds the importance of Hanukkah by fun party games.
