The home wind turbine is becoming more and more popular for a broader and broader group of Americans. That is because of several factors-the scarcity of fossil fuels, the growing need for independence from foreign sources of oil, and the fact that America is becoming a lot greener nation. Although these devices are very popular with a lot of people they are not right for everyone.

These are the people and personal situations that will benefit most from a home wind turbine for home electricity production…

Those who have abundant wind on their property. While everyone has some wind on their property, not everyone has enough to support a home wind turbine. Given the state of current technology, you need at least 9 mph of average wind speed in order to make a go of this type of project.

You very well may have 9 mph of wind speed on average but you need to verify that by using a mounted anemometer for at least 6 to 9 months. I know that sounds like a very long time or even an eternity when you're trying to get something new like a wind turbine, but if you don't size up your resource situation, there is a high likelihood that you could way over buy and get a wind turbine that doesn't perform the way you expect it to.

Another qualifier is whether you happen to live in an area that supports wind technologies like turbines. Not everywhere will work for that. Many locations still have an attitude about wind and will not allow devices like this to be installed on houses or near houses in their communities. This is because of negative perceptions that existed for years and are unlikely to change quickly.

Also, if you are going to get a wind turbine device, you need to be the type that doesn't mind working on a home project now and again.

In conclusion, one day everyone will be able to use a home wind turbine at their house area there's no question about that. The reason I say that is this technology is improving at a very rapid pace. As it continues and these devices become better and better at converting wind energy to electricity at lower speeds, more and more houses will qualify and this will make a lot more sense and parts of the country that now part weak candidates.
