The home wind turbine is an excellent way to slice costs at your house for electricity. However, is it a good idea to combine wind energy with solar energy?

In other words, is it better to leave well enough alone and stick with the home wind turbine and not try to include another renewable energy system like solar? Are you going to too much trouble to try to optimize the expensive increasing the complexity beyond the level that will allow you to get the project done?

The answer to that question has a lot to do with where specifically you are located in the country. In other words if you live in an area where there is both a tremendous amount of sun and wind, then it is in your best interest to consider all of the energy at your disposal. You want to be able to harvest everything you can from your surroundings in order to make energy for your home. T he reason it is important to understand and acknowledge this fact upfront is that there are a number of devices that are coming on the market that combine wind and solar. The home wind turbine is not just for wind anymore. These 2 renewable energy sources are being combined by manufacturers to give homeowners the best of both worlds.

In actuality, all of our energy comes from the sun anyway. The sun gives off its radiant energy that we feel as heat. The sun also heats up things like the ground or the pavement and that heat radiates back up into the atmosphere causing uneven distribution of air patterns. This, in combination with the Coriolis effect, or the turning of the earth, causes our wind as well.

Unfortunately though, many manufacturers of solar and many manufacturers of home wind turbine energy products have pitted themselves against the other to try to gain market share and renewables arena. They have said that you need to make a decision between wind and solar. That those two systems are mutually exclusive, in other words. This is simply not so.

As we go forward, there are going to only be more and more devices that combine the best home wind turbine solution with the best solar energy solution. When you can get those in one device, the math is very simple and a lot more compelling than if you have only one or the other. So, examine your options carefully and make sure you look at all the devices out there that might get you more bang for your buck.
